Victories for Bralon and Steph
17th February 2019 – It was another weekend with a mix of distances, surfaces and continents for PACE athletes with some pleasing results.
For the past three years Bralon Taplin (GRN) has been amongst the top three in the 400m world indoor rankings and he looks set to make it a fourth year in a row as he posted 45.26 seconds to win the Aggie Twilight meet at College Station, Texas. This is the fastest time in the world in 2019 to date.
At the IAAF World Indoor Tour in Birmingham, Winny Chebet (KEN) finished her short indoor campaign with fourth place in the 1 mile. Vincent Kibet (KEN) and Bethwel Birgen (KEN) placed seventh and eleventh in an outstanding 1500m race that saw the World Indoor Record broken.
At the Ugandan trials for the World Cross-Country Championships, Thomas Ayeko (UGA) kept his consistent form going with a fourth-place finish. This should see him named amongst a strong Ugandan squad.
Steph Twell (GBR) got the weekends proceedings off to a winning start with victory at the Armagh International Road Races equalling the course record of 8:59 for the 3km in the process.
