History maker Fred
4th September 2021 – Having already won 200m and 400m races at Diamond League level, Fred Kerley (USA) made history when winning the 100m in Brussels on Friday night.
After the 9.94 seconds that it took him to sprint down the track Fred became the first athlete to win all three sprint events at the very top level of the sport. Barely a stride behind Trayvon Bromell (USA) also ran a great race and took second place in 9.97 seconds.
Completing a good night for PACE athletes World Champions Dina Asher-Smith (GBR) and Hellen Obiri (KEN) ran seasons bests in their respective events and both took third places. Dina ran 22.06 seconds in the 200m and Hellen 14:26.23 in the 5000m.
All four athletes have qualified for the Diamond League Finals which will be held in Zurich next Wednesday and Thursday where they will also be joined by Shamier Little (USA) and Bethwel Birgen (KEN).
