World Silver for Dina
29th September 2019 – Dina Asher-Smith (GBR) won her first individual medal on the world stage with a brilliant performance at the IAAF World Championships in Doha.
After an innovative light show set the appropriate stage for the athletes, Dina stepped up and performed to the best of her ability when it mattered most. It was only the brilliance of defending champion Shelley-Anne Fraser-Pryce (JAM) that prevented her taking the gold but a medal was Dina’s goal and this was achieved.
Not only was there the reward of a silver medal, Dina also ran a new British record of 10.83 seconds, beating her own record set when winning the European title in Berlin last year.
Dina will be back again in the heats of the 200m which starts tomorrow evening.
