PB’s for Centrowitz and Hasay
5th May 2014 – As the outdoor season really starts to get going PACE athletes were competing across the globe and demonstrating their winters training has gone well. World Championships silver medalist Matthew Centrowitz (USA) chose to go over-distance at the Payton-Jordan Invitational and was rewarded with a 27 second PB. Centrowitz ran 13:20.06 for 9th place in the 5000m.
Teammates Jordan Hasay (USA) and Shannon Rowbury (USA) also had successful evenings with Hasay reducing her PB in the 10,000m to 31:39.67 and Rowbury having her best season opener over 800m with 2:02.58. To complete a hat-trick of PACE PB’s Magdalyne Masai narrowly missed out on breaking the 10 minute barrier as she ran 10:07.2 for the 3000m steeplechase at the Athletics Kenya meeting in Mumias.
The previous day at the Jamaican Invitational, windy conditions made fast times difficult to come by but Schillonie Calvert (JAM) and Andy Turner (GBR) both had positive runs with 4th places in the 100m and 110m hurdles respectively.
Finally on Friday night at the inaugural American track league in Bloomington, Diane Cummins (CAN) ran a seasons best of 2:02.70 for 4th place in the 800m.
