Maiden victory for Dina
16th June 2016 – British record holder Dina Asher-Smith (GBR) secured her first IAAF Diamond League victory at the latest event in Stockholm.
Running the 200m from lane 5 Dina was quick away and ran an excellent bend to lead into the straight. She held her form well in the final stages to cross the line in 22.72 seconds despite the cool and damp conditions and a minus headwind. This was the perfect preparation for Dina before she heads to the British Olympic Trials next weekend.
Earlier in the week Galen Rupp (USA) ran his first track race of 2016 and was very satisfied to take the win over 5000m at the Portland Track Festival while still in the midst of marathon training. Matthew Centrowitz (USA) showed he is recovering from the minor injury that ruled him out of a couple of races with a solid 800m and 1500m double.
Michael Rimmer (GBR) ran a seasons best of 1:46.63 to take third place in Luzern.
