Centro back on track
15th May 2021 – They say form is temporary, class is permanent and Olympic Champion Matthew Centrowitz (USA) showed his class again at the Sound Running Track Meet in California.
After a difficult period with injuries, Centro demonstrated all the attributes that have brought him four global medals to date. Well positioned throughout, moving smoothly up the field, and then an acceleration and finish over the final 200m that moved him well clear of his competitors, Centro took the win in 3:35.26 and reminded everyone that he will be there to make the team at the US Olympic Trials next month.
All of the above could also be said about Trayvon Bromell (USA) and he put on another sprinting clinic as he comfortably won the 100m in 9.92 seconds.
These performances came 2 days after World 200m Champion Dina Asher-Smith (GBR) opened her 2021 season with a victory in Savona, Italy. Running over 200m for the first time since she won that World 200m title, Dina put on a show for the local crowd, winning in 22.56 seconds.
