2nd November 2019 – There has been a lot of change if the life of Shannon Rowbury (USA) over the last year and a half but one thing that hasn’t changed is her ability to win national titles.

Shannon gave birth to her daughter Sienna in June 2018 and since that time has patiently and methodically worked her way back. An injury in February delayed this moment a little longer than she would have liked but on a fresh sunny morning on the streets of New York and the paths of Central Park Shannon won the US 5k title.

Using the speed that has propelled to a 1500m PR on 3:55, Shannon kicked out up the final climb to the finish to cross the line in 15:43, one second clear of the runner up. More fall races will now follow for Shannon as she continues to work her way back and with her sights set firmly on Tokyo 2020.
