Phillips Idowu wins Shanghai Diamond League
2009 World triple jump Champion Phillips Idowu (GBR) started his 2012 season with a win in the Diamond League in Shanghai. In wet conditions the Londoner posted a best distance of 17.24m to beat World Indoor Champion Will Clay and World Outdoor Champion Christian Taylor. Hellen Obiri (KEN) placed 4th in the women’s 1500m in a seasons best 4:03.15 while Mercy Njoroge (KEN) took 4th in the 3000mSC in 9:26.50. Mario Forsythe (JAM) ran 10.26 secs to finish 5th in the 100m while Sammy Mutahi (KEN) placed 8th in the men’s 5000m in 13:16.21.
