In the second marathon of his career Micah Kogo (KEN) took three and half minutes off his personal best with a 4th place finish in a time of 2:06.56 in the 2013 Bank of America Chicago marathon.

The Boston marathon runner-up was in the lead group of four until 35km running at 2:03 pace. He went through halfway in 61:53, 30k in 1:28.05 and 35k in 1:42.38 maintaining a steady pace of 4:43 per mile. He last 7km was tough as he slowed to 5:19 pace until 40k and 5:45 pace in the last 2km.

Nevertheless it was a great performance from the 2008 Olympic 10,000m medallist as he gains further experience over 26 miles. His training partner Mike Kigen (KEN) stayed in the lead group until 30km when his hamstring tightened up. He braved on to the finish recording 2:12.40 for 11th place.
