Gold Medals for Disi and Salem
In an exciting sprint finish Dieudonne Disi (RWA) won the 10,000m gold medal in the 5th Jeux de la Francophonie in Tunisia. The Rwandan runner beat 12:50 5000m runner Abderrahim Goumri (MAR) in a time of 29:17.11.
Meanwhile in Doha, Qatar, Jamal Bilal Salem (QAT) took the gold medal in the 10,000m in the West Asian Games. His time of 28:40.99 gave him a comfortable victory over countryman Sultan Zaman. Salem returned later in the week to take the silver medal in the 5000m.
