Benjamin Limo

Benjamin Limo was the 2005 World Champion over 5000m, a title that was hard earned after he took the silver medal in 1999. Recording personal bests of 7:28.67 for 3000m and 12:54.99 5000m showed the talent that Benjamin had and performances such as these saw him ranked World No.1 for 3000m in 2002 and two miles in 2006.

Despite his obvious prowess on the track, it could be argued Benjamin achieved even greater success over the country as around the turn of century he was a virtual ever present at the front end of the World Cross-Country Short Course Championships. Individual fourth place finishes were taken in 1998 and 2006, individual bronze medals were achieved in 2001 and 2003 and the individual gold medal and world title was his in 1999. Additionally, as a member of the all conquering Kenyan team Ben won a total of five team titles.
