3rd October 2019 – Fred Kerley (USA) earned his first major senior individual medal when taking the bronze medal in the men’s 400m final.
In front of a packed stadium that had already witnessed a very popular home win in the men’s high jump and a world record in the women’s 400m hurdles the athletes had a tough act to follow. However, they duly delivered with a world class race with Fred more than playing is part. Fred will be looking for more medals as part of the men’s 4x400m team.
In the men’s 1500m Matthew Centrowitz (USA) gave himself a minor scare when missing an automatic qualifying place for the final but he progressed as a fastest qualifier and will still be in the hunt for a medal in a wide-open race on Sunday.
